Didot Type Specimen

School project. Type specimen for the French typeface Didot.

For this assignment, we were asked to create a booklet that not only informed and displayed the abilities of our chosen typeface — but also reflected the historic period in which it was founded.
Didot was founded in France around the time of the Revolution, and takes its name from French typographer Firmin Didot, an all-time dominant figure in French typefounding. I tried to capture a sense of this period, combined with more whimsical and silly elements.
